Spring Message from the President Education, we know, is a lifelong process. Their work this spring took them all over the globe — from a village in Africa to Hurricane Katrina-ravaged New Orleans to two camps for ill children in Florida. This year, the college has received a bevy of top awards in competitions locally, nationally and internationally. Spring break a time of service , learning for Rowan students From Florida to Louisiana to the west coast of Africa, 79 students from Rowan University spent their spring break giving their time to help others.
Altogether, 41 students went to the Gulf Coast to help in Hurricane Katrina recovery ef for ts, marking the third time Rowan students have volunteered there. In New Orleans, students under the guidance of five Rowan pr of essors helped to rebuild residences near Xavier University. A group of pr of essionals and upper-class students provides a variety of service s including tutoring, support programs for disabled students, assistance programs for veterans and academic support.
